Later Tuesday

Hey again Folks,

I know I said that last post was going to be long, but I just couldn't put anything behind that. This past Friday I was invited to the old creative services Christmas party. I say old Bonnie Money not because of your age, but because I don't know what ya'lls department is now. I had a great time seeing everybody and catching up. They had two of my favorite things there, food and people to chat with. While I was there D was blowing my phone up asking when I was coming home. We were supposed to hang out with DuBose, but I didn't understand the rush. Well, when I finally showed up at the house she had a surprise birthday party going. We had a great time and stayed up wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too late. Thanks D for planning it and thanks to everyone that came, it was a blast.

Saturday morning we got up late and were cleaning up when I got a phone I was only wishing I would get. Dad called and said we had tickets for the game. Yes you heard me right Dad and I are going to Pasadena to see Bama take on Texas for all the marble. This made a fantastic birthday absolutely incredible. I can't wait for the trip and hope Bama can get it done. Obviously I was one cloud nine for the rest of the day. We spent the afternoon and night at DeAnn's parents and finally got home and in bed around 10.

Sunday morning I got up and went to Ham. I love going out there for the services and hearing Brother Stanley's sermon. He does a great job of putting them into everyday life where they really make since. After Church Dad and I started cleaning out the storage room at our house. That pretty much concluded our weekend and we now have the short week before Christmas. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and everyone is safe. Love you all.

Tuesday (Long)

Hey Guys,

This is going to be a long one so get ready.

First and foremost, apologies are in order. Saturday was the anniversary of the day we lost my pal Adam Waddail in 1995. I have called his mother every year to tell her just what Adam meant to me and what her and Ash do mean to me. This year I failed her as when I sat down to call her the clock said 9:30 and I wasn't going to call that late. Most of you know that I worked for Adam's dad Steve while I was at Troy. He took me under his wing and made my 3 and 1/2 years on campus so much easier. I try to thank him all the time for being there for me, but he is too stubborn to accept even a thank you. To the Waddail, Rainer, and Bledsoe's I think of you often and Adam was such a special person to me and everybody that knew him. When I get down I usually think of Adam and his laugh normally puts a smile on my face. Mrs. Melanie I will never miss that phone call again because I have felt terrible since Saturday because I let you down.

Adam I miss you buddy and know that we will see each other again.

Thursday

Hey Guys,

You all probably think I am sick since this is the 2nd post in a week. Well I'm not but I knew Monday that I was forgetting something and I was.

Sunday afternoon after we ate lunch at D's parents, Mom and I went to Montgomery to finish up some shopping. After we got that done we went to Cedar Crest and Shanna was gone on a day pass with her Mom. We still haven't talked to Mr. Stan or Mrs. Linda but obviously things are progressing nicely. Also, we stopped by John Knox to see Mrs. Sue and gave her some chocolate. She looked great and seems to be doing very well. Those are two great presents right there and its 1 week away from Christmas.

I just wanted to tell you guys that,

Rain, Rain go away.

Hey Guys,

Man it has done some raining in Elba AL in the last few days. That's really all that has been going on. We had a lazy weekend except the Grantham's lit the advent candle at Ham yesterday. Also, congrats to Mark Ingram that "Bad Boy" at the Capstone for winning the Heisman. I just hope we can parlay that with the championship into a great season. Christmas is sure getting close I hope everyone is getting their shopping done. That's really all I have.

The Grandaddy of'em All

It blows my mind just what Bama has a chance to accomplish. After three short years in T-Town Saban has taken us to the top from has beens. I can honestly say I knew this was coming, although certainly not this quick. Dad and I had the chance to meet Saban and see him speak a few months after he was hired. The mood was totally different than the previous administration. When he talked EVERYBODY listened. The feeling that Dad, Tommy Morrow, Billy Bimbo, and myself had when we left was that Bama would be back. Something special was happening at the Capstone. Good Luck guys "let's get #13. RTR folks and "Remember the Rose Bowl we'll win then".

Ok Bama rant over.

The last week has been pretty slow except everyday life. This Tuesday night DeAnn and I were in Montgomery for AAL's Christmas party. It was at the bar on the first base side at Riverwalk Stadium. Pretty cool. We also saw a bunch of folks and had a good time. Later D and I went to the exchange bar at the Renassaince and we were shocked to see Kenny Heard and Tony Brook playing TOGETHER. Kenny started around Troy and then joined up with my good friend Joe Wright. Tony was also on the Auburn scene and good friends with Rex Oggs. We had a great time talking to both and Glenn and Jennifer joined us later on. Wednesday morning I went to AAL to a clinic for the Rheo knee. Two guys from Ossur were there and critiqued my walk and gave me some insight on things that might work better. It was a informative meeting. So if you pass me on the street and I look perplexed or I am walking different don't worry I may just be trying something new,

I have to wish a belated birthday to my cousin and the coolest freshman to be at The University of Alabama John Stephens Jr. He got shafted on his gift. I gave uncle John a Bama win for his birthday on the 5th and all John-John gets is a shout out on this sorry blog. Anyway, Happy Birthday man. hope it was a good one.

My My My

Hello Folks,

What a weekend. We started the weekend at my sweet Mother-in-law's on Thursday for a "Young" Thanksgiving. Man, the food was great and it was nice to see everybody. Thursday night a few friends stopped by and we watched Texas/A&M.

Friday morning I woke up way too early. I guess I was too excited. We had an "Iron Bowl" breakfast at my grandmother's since D and I didn't eat with her on Thursday. After that DeAnn and I said our goodbye's. I went to Wynn's and she went to Jerry's. I can't handle those people during the game.

The game was interesting to say the least. AU had a great game plan and with a Bama defense that was full of turkey made all the the right plays and owned the 1st quarter. I'm not gonna give a play-by-play because you saw it and DeAnn would get mad. But as Eli said as the clock showed zeros "The State of Alabama is once again crimson".

After the game I did go to Jerry's to see everybody. The crowd on both sides was pretty subdued and a little shocked I guess, because most of the talk was about Tiger Woods going to Nascar and not the Bama game.

Saturday we were all very lazy. DeAnn, Jerry Blake and I watched football ALL day and put the Christmas tree. I was nice just to hang out a little.

Sunday I got up and went to Ham. After Church I picked up around the house and we decided to go see "The Blind Side". I would recommend everyone go see this movie it was very good. I expected it to be good but it was better than that. It put such a great feeling in my heart to top off a great weekend.

Tuesday of Iron Bowl week

Good Morning All,

I hope everybody had a great weekend. We did, but it was so long

Thursday I met Reese in Mobile. We had tickets to see Jamey Johnson at the Saenger downtown. If you want to hear Jamey Johnson buy his cd. He has the stage personality of a letter opener. Reese and I had a great time seeing each other and catching up. After driving all night back home I pretty much rested on Friday.

Later Friday afternoon, Mom, Dad, and I left to go to Tuscaloosa. We stopped in Troy to support Roland Jones and his CCA Cougars, but our cheering wasn't enough. Congrats on a good season coach. We got to Reese's and toured the mansion and went to bed.

Saturday we got up and went to the Bama scrimmage against UTC. We had a great time, but there wasn't much to see. That's a good thing though. We left at the half and drove to Philadelphia, MS to the Ruddocks celebrate Amy's 21 birthday. We ate looked around a while and drove back to T-town. We had a great time but it was a super long day.

I really hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving week. I know it is pushing 2 years since my accident, but not a day goes by that I don't think about how lucky I am am to have friends and family like you. I thank the good Lord for it everyday. THANK YOU again.

Thursday

Hey Guys.

I'm sorry that blogs are coming so slow, but that is kind of how my life is right now. We are all but through with the house and are doing things as they come up.

Yesterday I went to Montgomery to AAL. My leg has been making some weird noises and it has been bothering me. It is purely cosmetic and nothing can be done short of making a new socket. This one fits well so I don't want to do that unless I have to. So if you are around me and here strange creaking noises while I am walking its just my leg.

While in Montgomery I stopped in at HealthSouth to check in on the crew. Everything seems to be going well and everybody was good. Its nice to see those folks and not be sweating or breathing hard.

Last night we went to Enterprise to a reception for Tom Anderson who is running for DA. Tom is a family friend and we are all pulling for him. Hopefully we can get him in office. It was fun and great to see he and Christina.

I am going to see Jamey Johnson tonight at the Saenger? in Mobile. It should be a great show.

This weekend we are going to T-town to see Reese. I am excited about seeing her new house. It should be a fun time. Well that gets me caught up I think.

Mostly moved in

Good Morning,

I know that Manana doesn't mean one week later, but you know how it goes.

Anyway, after the show in Vegas on Saturday night everyone was worn out so we all went to bed pretty quick. Robyn had a 6:30 flight so she left the hotel around five. Our flight wasn't until 11 so we had time to kill. One of my biggest problems in my life is the last day of a vacation or the few days following getting back I just miss the excitment of the trip. This trip was no different. We planned this is in June and had been waiting and anticipating. Now it was ending and it had been so much fun and i was think "What do I do now?". Of Course, we get back and we are in full blown move mode so that depression ended pretty quickly.

In the last two weeks we have moved from Montgomery. Partially moved to Dad's and lived in two rooms waiting for the floor guys to finish up. While we were waiting on the floors, Uncle Daniel help with a little pressure washing on Friday. Doing anything with him is always fun and interesting. Thanks for the help Unc. Friday night we went to Elba's playoff game. They won big and will play Washington County in Elba this Friday.

Weeks ago I planned to watch the LSU game in Dothan with Uncle John, Aunt Jenny, Robert and Kathy. The timing was pretty bad, but I wanted to go anyway. Dad decided to go and we left Elba around 9:30. Anytime I am around that Dothan bunch it is always a good time and Saturday was no different. We watched the game at Robert ad Kathy's and had good food and fellowship. Bama won and confirmed a trip to Atlanta. RTR. I think Robert liked the artichoke the best. Sorry we left so early after the game folks, but we knew Sunday was going to be long.

AND IT WAS. We started around 9 moving furniture and boxes. Then it was hanging blinds and doors. I think we finally quit close to 4. I was in bed by 8.

I believe we are all caught up and as soon as Reese comes home I will get some pictures on the blog. I do not know how to upload them on here. Sorry, hopefuuly it won't be long

Teddy I hope everything goes well with your knee. We are praying for ya.

Happy reading and Fins Up,

We live in Elba

Hey Guys,

I know it has been two weeks since I have written, but we have been on the go since we stepped off the plane.

First of all. Vegas was perfect. We all had a wonderful time although nobody struck gold. We got out there Thursday about lunch and got settled in. Dad, Jerry, and I watched the Yankees game later in the afternoon. Even though my Yanks lost it was a fun time.

The next morning we went to Hoover Dam. This was not high on my priority list but I am so glad we went. It is an incredible sight especially when you think it was built 80 years ago. We got back to Sin City Friday afternoon and rested a little. Later, Reese went to see Bette Mildler and D and Robyn went to O a Circque De Soliel? show.

Saturday we just eased around that morning while we were gearing up for the Bama/Tenn game. It had a happy ending, but got real stressful towards the end. Later we had dinner at Fix in Bellagio. After that with the help of Mr. Bert Crowe we saw George Wallace at the Flamingo. It was a great ending to a to the night and trip. Thanks Mr. Bert for all the hospitality. This was my second venture to Vegas and both were more than incredible. Both parties couldn't have been better. Thanks for the trip guys.

I will continue the Blog manana.

Rest and Packing

Well Folks,

The week is upon us. We are leaving Thursday morning for Las Vegas. We planned this trip early in the summer and had no idea we would be moving and we certainly didn't know Reese was moving. Although I think this trip will be a nice distraction for everybody.

In the world of sports all the good guys keep winning. Bama snuck by SC and have a fight with the Vols in BD this Saturday. Elba beat Samson and they have a tough game this week. My Yankees are 5-0 in the playoffs, but go on the road starting today. Troy was on the road to Florida Intl and came away with the win.

The work on the house keeps on going as we are painting and as soon has thats done the flooring will be done. Everything we are doing will make the house look so much different. We have less than two weeks in the apartment and it will be close as far as time goes. We will see what happens.

Monday

Good Afternoon Guys,

Last week we went to Troy on Tuesday night to see the Trojans beat Arkansas State. The defense looked great. Congrats guys on that big win.

Wednesday the Yankees started their trek to the World Series and finished off the twins last night. The Angels come to the Bronx starting Friday.

Friday night the Elba Tigers pulled the upset on Houston Academy. Coach Rials and his guys continue to prove all the critics wrong and I couldn't be more impressed.

Saturday we watched Bama roll and Auburn slip against the Hogs. Bama looks pretty good while I have been shocked about how good Auburn looks.

Sunday we went to Whitewater for Homecoming. It was nice to see everybody and the food was very good. Later we went to Grannie Farris's Birthday party downtown. She looks wonderful. Happy Birthday Grannie.

I am still packing and waiting to see whats going to happen. Hope everyone is doing well.

Monday

Good Morning All,

Hope everyone is making it through this soggy Monday morning.

Since I last blogged D and I went Hogs and Hens on Friday night. It is a cook-off that her company is involved in. We had a great time and then after that we drove to Elba because we had an early morning on Saturday.

There was a CF walk in Crestview and we went to Support John, Lynsey, and Ollie DuBose. It was very successful and makes you feel good helping out a great cause. After that we came back to Elba and watched some football at Jerry's. Sunday was Mrs. Jan's birthday so we went to the Half Shell in Troy and ate Saturday night. Happy Birthday Mrs. Jan. You look way to young for Dennis.

Sunday was pretty lazy, but did involve some packing. Boy Bama looked good at times and should be ready for a road game in Oxford this weekend. Auburn looked good and beat those terrible, hated, nasty, and every other adjective Tennessee Vols. Roll Tide and Go Troy tomorrow night.

Wednesday

Hey Guys,

I've been pretty busy lately. As most of you know D and I are moving to Elba in November so we are in the beginning stages of that.

I have been watching a ton of football and baseball. My Yankees are back in the playoffs and seem to be set to make a run to November. Bama and Auburn continue to win, they both are getting into the meat of the schedule so we will see what happens. Troy pulled out a big win at Arkansas St. on Saturday and are home next Tuesday against Middle Tennessee.

I am also in the process of getting back to work and seeing where its going to be and what its going to detail.

Saturday we are going to Crestview for a walk benefiting the fight against CF. We will be there on behalf of Ollie. It should be fun for a great cause.

Thursday

Hey Guys,

Well, since we last talked D and I have been pretty busy. Saturday afternoon we left to go to Elba. We ate supper with her Mom and Dad and watched the rest of the Auburn game at Jerry DuBose's.

On Sunday Morning we went to Ham. The great folks at Ham gave me a huge honor. They established a medical trust to help people in need after catastrophic accidents, surgeries, or cancer. They named the trust after me which is so nice and thoughtful. They want D, Mom, Dad and I to identify needs we might be able to help. THANK YOU Ham Church.

Later on Sunday we went to Whitewater for church to see D's Family. It was very good to see everybody.

Therapy is still going well my stamina keeps improving. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers.

Saturday

Hey Guys,

Good Saturday morning!

We had a great time last night. We met my cousin Hunter for supper at PF Changs at the Summit then we met my pal JD Cook at the show. The show was good. Very interesting. Taylor really plays it up to her core audience. Which is young teens it appears. She is a heck of a songwriter. Anyway, it was a great time with great friends.

Therapy is really going well. I am seeing improvement in my stamina. It seems that somethings that were giving me trouble a few weeks ago are now much easier.

As I am writing this Troy is hanging in with Florida 7-3. I think the Elba tigers won last night to improve to 3-0. Congrats Coach Rials and team. Where are the doubters at the moment? Bama shouldn't have much trouble, but we should see improvements in some spots.

Later.

Home from the Beach

Hey Guys,

Boy the Tide had me very nervous Saturday night. We looked sluggish early, but played hard late and looked a lot better. We had a great time in PCB over the weekend. I got a good bit of sun which is good because it might be the last time I'm there for the year.

We had a wedding bonanza for Teddy and Lisa before the Bama game. Those two are very special to the Granthams and the Stephens. Guys we love you both and were so glad you came.

This coming up weekend D and I are going to see Taylor Swift on Friday Night. I;m pretty nervous because I do not know what to except.

That's really all I have. I'll try to remember some more.

I'm Back

Hey Guys,

Sorry for no post, but it wasn't my fault this time. When the blog was set up Reese did everything. Recently she was doing something to her Google account and it messed up my password. Anyway, I'm back and therapy is going very well. I hope I am going to get my weight down. I think I need to be 30 lbs. lighter so I am going to get to work on that but it will be tough during football season.

The Trojans took a tough loss last night. It appeared to be two different teams in the halves. I'm sure they will have a tough week of practice going into the swamp.

We are at the beach for the long weekend.

2 Years and more rest

Hey Guys,

Well today is our 2nd anniversary. I know you all know the story about how we had celebrated our 6 month deal the day before the wreck. However, it still blows my mind to think what she was going through as a 22 year old. I cannot say enough about her and how much I love her.

Happy Anniversary DeAnn

Monday and Rest

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We sure did. It was kind of busy, but relaxing nonetheless. JK and Uncle V had a great party with great food at their place. Thanks guys we had a wonderful time.

Before the party we had a great time at the pool and on the beach. The weather ended up being great. On Saturday night we ended up getting to talk to Robert over in Ja Pan. It turns out that DeAnn's good friend Emily is over there with him for Sony. Oh yeah Jenny Waters, don't touch the ipod without permission.

All in all, the weekend couldn't have been better unless we had hit the lottery.

Mama Nell Cook got home from HealthSouth sometime late in the week. I am so glad to here about that. Can't wait to see you Mama Nell.

Please say a little prayer for Mom's friend Ms. Ann Wesley. Her granddaughter died in a tragic car wreck early Friday morning.

Also, the poker run for Miss Ollie DuBose was a huge success I heard. They raised a bunch of money and had a good time it sounds like. I hate we couldn't be there Gator and Lynz, we were thinking of you.

I know I am probably forgetting something. If I am I will try to let you know.

Therapy and the beach

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the lack of post. I really have no excuse for not updating I just haven't sat down to do it. I have been thinking about things to blog. Since we last talked D and I went to the movies twice over the weekend. We saw Funny people, very average with a great cast I was disappointed, and The time travelers wife, weird love story D liked I yawned. So the picture show was not very successful but a relaxing weekend nonetheless.

Therapy is still going well. I am walking more and longer. My endurance is still coming along. Had a check up with Dr. V and he said all my aches we normal considering 6 ab surgeries in 18 months. My muscles are trying to strengthen with staples, stitches and scar tissue in the way. It made me feel much better knowing that I am not doing any damage and all the work is holding.

Mr. Robert Waters is in a foreign land and wanted an update. There was no need for threats Mr. Waters all you had to do was ask. You have my number just call although you might be roaming. I'll try to post more often.

We are headed to the beach this weekend to celebrate Dad's birthday. Most of you know how I feel about my old man. If not see Aug. 22, 2008 blog. Anyway, Happy 59th Pop. Next year we might celebrate on Duval or maybe even at Capt. Tonys.

Mama Nell is still at HealthSouth and improving. She is sure ready to see Elba again. Any day now Mama Nell.

I think we are all caught up now. I'll try to post Monday.

Hey Guys,

Ok, ok, ok.......Settle down. I never thought that comment about AU would get my readers so fired up. I guess that's football in the state of Alabama.

Mama Nell is at HealthSouth and continues to improve, but please continue to pray. After my therapy Uncle Daniel and I went to check on her, but that had her in OT.

Every time I go to therapy my endurance is getting so much better. I am walking farther and riding the bike longer.

I want to thank you all for the comments. It really lets me know you still read. Also, I cannot explain what the encouragement does while I am enduring the hour and a half of therapy. Thanks for reading.

Back in the "Gump"

Hey Guys,

Wow what a weekend. Friday morning I got up and went to therapy and then rode to Elba. I got to eat lunch with Mama Dot. Mam it was so goooooooood. That afternoon we were mostly out at the club getting ready for the drawing. Later, we had a great time and I had loved catching up with folks I rarely see.

Just when I think nobody reads this anymore. Julie Holley's dad stopped me and had a lot of kind words that really meant so much. Thanks Mr. Minix your thoughts were so nice and I appreciate them greatly.

The next two days I watched some good and some pretty pitiful golf. Either way I enjoyed it a lot.

My Yankees have turned it on and swept the sorry lifeless Red Sox of Boston. Now if they will just miss the playoffs and Auburn goes winless it will be a great year in sports. Sorry I'm kidding. Well kind of.

Mama Nell Cook seems to be doing some better, but please keep her in your prayers.

Wednesday I should have a pretty good blog because Uncle Daniel takes me to rehab.

Thursday

Hey Guys,

First things first. I want to say I have been thinking about the Brunson family. Mr. Jack and Mrs Edna were great friends of the Elba-Troy Club since the beginning and I don't know where our club would be without them. I hated I could not get to Elba for the service.

Also, I have had 2 visits with Mama Nell Cook and both were good. She has an uphill battle, but she is tough. Please say a prayer for her and the family.

I knew I was forgetting something Monday. Saturday after the concert on Friday night we came back through Elba to attend Candace Anderson and Brett Bimbo's wedding. The wedding was nice and Candace looked great. DeAnn and I had a wonderful time catching up with folks we haven't seen in while.

This weekend is the world famous ticket tournament in Elba. They have a $5000 drawing on Friday night and a 3 person scramble on the weekend. It is a big fund-raiser for the club and a big time for all involved. In the morning I am going to therapy and then headed to the big town for the festivities.

Monday

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the lack of post late last week. We were gone over the weekend and then my pal Jerry turned off my wireless on my computer. It took a while to figure out what happened.

Anyway, I got back to therapy last week and it is going very well. I didn't lose any strength in my left leg. My stomach is still tight and tender. It still hurts pretty bad while I am walking. But it is still great to be back up and moving.

On Friday we went to Orange Beach to the Wharf to see Bob Dylan, Mellencamp, and Willie. It was pretty good but the fellowship was just awesome. We had a great time and ended the night at the 'Bama.

I want to Aunt Kathy Smith for asking me if I had read "90 minutes in Heaven". I had not but a nurse from the unit gave it to me while I was in the hospital. Since she ask that I thought I would pick it up. It was a good book and I do recommend reading it. I could identify in a lot of ways except I never wanted to go. I know he had been to Heaven but he also had small children.
I won't ruin it if you hadn't read it. But pick it up.

Hope all is well.

Back to HealthSouth

Hey Guys,

I went to see Vermillion today. I had a few questions and they answered all of them. He didn't see any reason why I couldn't go back to PT. So everything is set and I have to be back at my old stompin' grounds at 8 in the morning. He also said that he didn't think I could do any damage that we have previously fixed.

I am pretty excited because I know now we are on the homestretch. In a couple of months I will be back to where I was and we can get on with our lives. Just wanted to give you guys an update. Talk Later.

THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Guys,

I know I promised a few blogs this week, but I ended up going to Elba for a few days. Hopefully after my visit with the man on Tuesday I'll be back to rehab and back on my way. Excuses, excuses, excuses, I know.

Anyway here's one of the blogs:

Most of you all know our preacher at the Methodist church in Elba, Rev. Stanley Carter and his wife Mrs. Nancy. Well for those of you that don't I need to tell you a little about them. I guess as soon as a couple of hours after my accident he sent an email/prayer request telling about it and that my leg was broken pretty bad. I found all of this when I was going through the many cards and other things I got while I was a resident at South. Over the next few days he helped get the word out that it was a little worse than they first thought and I might need a few more prayers.

Mom later told me that they both were there (at the least) weekly and he always came back for a prayer with me. I have a lump in my throat as I type this. As I woke up and figured out what was going on, I always had notes, cards, or words of inspiration from them. They also kept me up-to-date on news from Elba and the church. On a few days that things weren't going well, whenever Mom talked to them, if they were driving they would pull over and say a quick prayer. It is touching when you hear a story like that so you can imagine what it feels like when the story is about you.

I would guess they made somewhere around 40 trips to Montgomery during my 119 days in the hospital. That involved more than a few hours and dollars while gas was pushing 4 bucks a gallon. Although I will never be able to thank them enough, I do hope this blog let's them know what they mean to our family. I really do not know how this would have turned out with out their support. Thank you both so much.

Still Being Pretty Lazy

Hey Guys,

Hope everybody had a great weekend. We went to the biscuits game Saturday night and had a great time. They won big and there were fireworks after the game over the river. For those around Montgomery that haven't been its a great bargain.

One thing I didn't mention last week, at the country club Friday night I got to spend a lot of time with Mike and Juli Parrish, and Bryan and Anita Grimes. These are some of my favorite people and I don't get to see them that much anymore, It was great catching up folks I Love you all and thanks for the meal Shine.

Later on today and the rest of the week I am going to try to get out several blogs that I have been needing to do.

I hope all is well.

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the lack of post last week. I went to Elba on Thursday, so I wasn't around. There was a tournament at the club that I want to see. It was nice seeing a bunch of folks I don't get to see that often. I'm still just kind of hanging around most days. I can now do everything by myself so that makes me feel better.

Thursday morning before I left, Mom and I had some running around to do and we stop by HealthSouth. It was great seeing two of my therapist. The other one misses work so much I don't know why they even keep her. I know missing me will make you think about skipping next time, Ms. Harris. It was nice and I'm actually ready to go back. See you guys soon.

Talk to you later,

Late Monday

Hey Everybody,

I hope everyone is doing well. We had a great trip to Elba. We spent a lot of time with DeAnn's family which is not something we do on summer holidays. We are normally at the beach. Also, I got to go to Ham Church. It was better than normal because Mary and Elizabeth were there with all the kids.

It was also great to hear from all my therapist from HealthSouth. I will be by there this week to see you and talk about me coming back. It is amazing to think about how going over to Narrow Lane was just part of my day and the folks at HealthSouth became family just like everyone at "The South".

I hate we missed all the debauchery at the beach, but it was great being in Elba. I'm know really looking forward to Dad's birthday bash it's surely to be one to remember. I gotta go to bed.

Rest and Fun

Hey Everybody,

I know most of you won't read this until Monday so I hope you all had a happy 4th of July weekend. DeAnn and I are in Elba hanging with the Smiths'. I really don't have any breaking news but I needed to post because Monday was the last one. I'm still getting stronger, but still pretty sore. Be safe.

Monday

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. DeAnn ended up making it to the wedding and had a great time. Dad came up and stayed with me and then stayed through today. We watch our NY Yankees beat the Mets Saturday and Sunday night. It always makes me feel better when the Bombers win.

I have a appointment with Vermillion in the morning. Hopefully we will get the drain out of my stomach and also pull some of the staples. I think this will make me feel better anyway. Things are improving everyday and it is just taking time.

Thank you one more time for all the thoughts and prayers through this last surgery. I'll never be able to thank you enough.

Lazy

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't posted it has been pretty boring. This has been probably the worst surgery for me that I have had. I guess its that I had gotten so independent before this and now I need help with everything. All I do is lay on my back and watch TV.

D and I are supposed to go to a friend's wedding in North Alabama this weekend. She is still going but I don't think I can make it. I'm just physically not ready. I hate it, but it is what it is.

I have also been working on my Itunes again. Uncle Daniel and my ipod's are almost perfect.

Anyway. Have a great weekend.

Home

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let you now we have made it home. We got here about 4:00. We hope we have my pain under control. Dad and I went to The Pain Management Clinic today to make sure we have the correct doses. If I move at all, it is painful. This is probably the most painful of any of my other recoveries, but hope the pain will go away quickly. The good thing about it is I have a few weeks to hang out and rest. I really want to thank you all one more time for the support of the last 16 months. Also, to all our friends on the sixth floor, we couldn't have made it without you.

7:00 PM

Hey Guys,

I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday. I guess I thought mom did. Anyway, I have had a pretty good couple of days. Uncle John was up yesterday and Uncle Daniel was up today. We solved most of the world's problems. It appears that we will get out of here Thursday. I am still very sore, but it is getting better I think. D has been at work this week trying to keep us a float. Thank you for your continued prayers.

4:10 pm

Hello to all, Hope you all have had a good weekend. Neil continues to make progress. He is still very uncomfortable and that will take a while to be better. He is running some temp off and on. All in all this still is much better than any other surgery he has had. The doctor had said maybe he could be released Monday or Tuesday. There is now some speculation that he might stay another day or so. That is not alarming and none of us wants Neil to go home before he is ready. Another day or two here will be much better than having to return. We are so pleased with the way Neil is responding to this surgery. Neil and DeAnn are not getting much sleep but are able to take catnaps between nurse's visits. That probably will not improve until they get home. Your prayers, love and support have kept all of us going and we so appreciate each of you. Thanks so much. Take care

Friday 5:00pm

Good afternoon to all, Things are going well here at Baptist South. Neil and DeAnn do not get much sleep as you can imagine, but other than that there are no complaints. Neil sat in a chair for about an hour and a half. Neil is now on a regular diet. He is a bit more uncomfortable than yesterday and hopes today will be the worse day. The doctor came by and continues to be pleased with his progress. They removed one of the drainage tubes today and will remove another tomorrow. The third one will go home with Neil. My goodness, it is so wonderful to have a normal surgery with a healthy body. We are so blessed. We continue to appreciate each prayer and all of your kinds thoughts and words.

Neil was reminded what a small world we live in as Ashley Carnley, working as an intern here and is from Elba, was the nurse who took him back to surgery. We loved seeing a familiar face "driving" him down the hall.

Brother Stanley shared with us that Ms. Ginny will be home Monday. What grand news.

Please remember Mr. Bob Cannon in your prayers. He has had a difficult week. We sure want him to feel better.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Thursday 4:30 pm

Sorry about the delay in posting. Neil planned to post last night but nodded off to sleep. Neil is in a regular room on the floor. That says a lot about how well he is doing. He is uncomfortable but that is to be expected. They are really managing the pain quite well. The doctor came by and was still smiling. He said the surgery could not have gone any better. Neil has some temp this morning and some this afternoon. The doctor said that is not unusual for this type of surgery. He expects Neil might go home Monday or Tuesday and that is sooner than he had earlier anticpated. Neil was able to sit on the side of the bed today for several minutes. Tomorrow he will sit in a chair. The doctor changed his diet from clear liquid to full liquid, so that means Neil can go from sprite to a milkshake. Tomorrow he will be on a regular diet. Everyone here at Baptist South has been so kind to all of us. We have been able to renew many friendships from Neil's previous visits. Thanks to each of you for your love and support.

Please keep Ms. Ginny Howard in your prayers. She is making progress everyday and we are so excited for her and all of her family.

Record Time

The doctor just came into the waiting room....and he was SMILING!

This went quicker than we thought and Neil came through the surgery well. He is in recovery. They fixed the hernia and the doc was able to take out the old mesh and put in some new that will hold better and is permanent! The skin graft is gone and in it's place are 42 stitches, but not to fear we have been told that Neil will come out of this looking better than we do!! HA!

The tentative plan by the Doc is that Neil will be sitting up tomorrow and possibly doing a little walking on Friday!

We are still waiting on the final decision as to if he is going to the SICU unit or if he will go on to the regular floor. The fact that they are considering the floor shows just how well the surgery went. We are so grateful, excited and of course we are ready to see Neil.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and we will update you again after we see him!

In Surgery

Hey guys and gals....

Neil came to Troy yesterday to speak to the delegates of the Youth Leadership Forum (YLF). He did a great job!! Many of the delegates were sad Neil couldn't stay and eat lunch with the group so they could talk to him more. Just wanted to let you know before I get to the information that you really want.

Mom, Dad and D have been at good ole Baptist South since around 7 this morning. They got Neil checked in for what we hope is the last time. Neil was in the holding room for around an hour and a half.

He JUST went into surgery. We have been told to expect 5-8 hours of surgery. As we get news we will be sure to update you on how things are going. We appreciate all of your on-going support and prayers.

Also please keep Ollie DuBose and her family in your prayers as they travel to Birmingham today.

Couldn't leave this off....

Monday

Hey Guys,

I hope everybody had a great weekend. Friday morning I went to Elba. Grandmama cooked an awesome breakfast and then Dad and I went to Defuniak for the "Luau". Dad, Wynn, and I normally play in this tournament, but since I am on the DL they called in Mrs. Lynn Weeks as a ringer.

Friday night a group of us went to Ruths' Chris. It is always a great meal and even better fellowship. Dad, Wynn, and Mrs. Weeks had a decent day on Saturday and then gave it away yesterday when 3 costly pars. I had a great time riding with Wynn and Lynn yesterday though.

Today I am just hanging out. Tomorrow I am going to Troy to speak to group of teenagers at the university. It is an honor and one I am not sure I deserve.

After that it is all about Baptist South. We have to be there at 7 on Wed. Morning. I am sure Mom or DeAnn will be blogging so maybe I can take over next week.

Happy Birthday Mom

I know she will scold me about this, but today is Mom's birthday. As most of you know she is a wonderful woman and an even better mother. Long before we knew anything about the inner workings of Baptist South, Mom and I spent many days on the road and in hospitals trying to do new things with my CP. She is absolutely one of my best friends and don't know what I would do without her. She is also one of the most self-less people I know. Our early morning grudge matches on the basketball court and the golf course are some of my favorite memories.

Mom, I had a great time this weekend with you and I hope today was a great day for you.

Thursday

Good Evening Guys,

I am very sorry for my lack of post. I have been pretty busy. I really don't know where to begin. I think since we last talked I gave the Adam Waddail scholarship at the high school in Elba. That was a huge honor to be on stage at my old school honoring my good pal with his sweet mom and sister. This past weekend we went to the beach and had a wonderful time even though is rained everyday.

Tomorrow night D and I are going to see Ron White downtown with the good folks at AL Limb. It should be a great night.

My plan is to lay pretty low next week since the following week we have the reunion at Baptist South. Next Thursday I have my pre-op stuff and then my plan is to go to Troy and see my folks and just hang out.

That is really all I can think of. I'll try to post when I can think of it.

Thursday

Hey Guys,

I apologize for no post on Monday. Last weekend we had a good time at the beach with Mom. DeAnn's mom and sister came down so I got to spend Mother's Day with Mom, my Mother-in-law, and my Grandmother. So it was really nice.

Monday we got our teeth cleaned and then stopped in Troy to see my folks at the former Quick Copy. Man I had it good back in the day. We had a great time telling stories.

Yesterday Wesley Stephens Stewart was born in Enterprise. He weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces. I know Mater X 2 is are very excited.

Tomorrow I am going to Elba to honors day at the high school. I hope everybody has a great weekend. Also my surgery has been moved back to the 10th instead of the 3rd.

Thursday

Hey Guys,

Since we last talked I have been to see the man. He said at this point, waiting wouldn't be beneficial. So we have the last and final surgery scheduled for June the 3rd. Recovery doesn't sound as brutal as we once thought it would be.

My sister-in-law Alison is graduating from Troy Normal tomorrow. We are going to that and then we are sliding to the beach for Lucia/Jan Day on Sunday. I hope everybody has a great weekend.

Also Jenna Henderson who works in SanBuck's Troy office her fiance's mother and sister were involved in a serious car accident Monday night. They are both in Baptist South and really need prayers. Please keep them in your thoughts

Beach Recap

Hey Guys,

I never knew this thing displayed the date, so there is no need to tell you guys this.

Anyway, I went to the beach Wednesday after my CT. Uncle John came and picked me up from Elba. Thursday he did a bunch of yard wok while I was there for moral support. The rest of the crowd got there Thursday evening.

Friday DeAnn and I got up and drove to Santa Rosa to see the DuBose clan. We had a great time hanging out at the pool most of the day.

Saturday we went down to the beach with the fam before the wedding. Thanks to Dad, Uncle J, and Mr. Robert I was able to get in the ocean and swim a while. The undertow was a little rough, but I got the hang of it.

Saturday afternoon my good friend and brother Jeptha J DuBose got married. For those of you that don't know the DuBose family is my second family. I've grown up with them and been all around the world with them. From Kyle down to Jerry I have a different, but great relationship with each of them include Heather Beth. Bessie has done a marvelous job of keeping us all in line. It was a very nice wedding and it was a honor to be there. Congrats Belly and Val, Love you guys.

Today John and Lindsey DuBose had a baby girl. Miss Ollie Pearl was born this morning.

It's weekends like this It is very clear how lucky I am to have such awesome family and friends.

Monday April 27, 2009 7:00 PM

Hey Guys,

I hope everybody had a great weekend. Last Thursday my weekend got started early. Uncle Daniel came up to do a little work. I hopped in a rode around for the day. We also went to pick up my new wheelchair in Wetumpka. It is so much easier for me to maneuver and put on the car myself when I need to go places by myself. I have such a good time hanging out with him and we always laugh when we are together. Days like that really off set some of those boring days.

Saturday DeAnn and I went to the pool here at the apartment. It was the first time I have been in a pool in 18 months. We had a great time, but I did get a little red. That night we went to "The Pub" with Teddy and Lisa. The food and fellowship was wonderful as always.

Yesterday I watched the Cup race from' Dega. It was an incredible finish as I expected.

I have been thinking about the blog lately. I know that a few of you still check this thing daily and I appreciate it. I also know it can be bothersome to check it and have no update for days. So I'm gonna start doing my best to update this on Monday and Thursdays so you don't have to check everyday because news is slow these days, thank goodness.

Hey Guys,

When we last talked on Friday I was going to Elba for a golf tournament. I had a great time watching was golf and then an even better time catching up with Josh and Jill Wilson. I had a wonderful time guys thanks for sitting with me.

Sunday I got back to Montgomery and DeAnn and I went to the movies. We saw State of Play with Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck. It was a very good film with a lot of twist and turns.

Last night we went to the Biscuits game and sat in a suite with Glenn and Jennifer. The Biscuits won and we had a great time.

This morning I had an appointment with Dr. Vemillion. He agreed that we could move my last surgery up to mid -July or so. He was saying everything looks as good as it can on me and we are on schedule.

Last but not least, today is my sweet wife's 24th birthday. I went to eat lunch with some of her co-workers. I hope she is having a great day.

Hey Guys,

I know it has been a while. I really don't know where to start. I guess the last post was about my FCE. Well since that happened I have been dismissed from therapy. Now I am just waiting for the work comp folks to decide what to do.

Chris Ruddock had his knee surgery and is doing great.

My good buddy Raeann McCollough Day had her little baby girl and both are home and doing well.

Last week I went to Elba on Wednesday. The Masters Tournament from beautiful Augusta National was starting Thursday and I can't tell you the last year Dad and I didn't watch it together. It was an amazing 4 days golf from the Mecca of the sport.

Yesterday DeAnn and I went to sunrise at Whitewater with the Smiths and then to Big Church with Mom downtown. It was a great Easter for us all because we all have so much to be thankful for. I have somethings that I am going to post later in the week.

Thursday we are going to Lakewood to see Sir Jim and his Coral Reefer Band. I know it is going to be a treat.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to fill you in on the evaluation. I had to be at Rehab Associates at 7:30 this morning. They put me through a series of test to see how I could function in certain activities. I think I did pretty well and I'm not sure where I go from here, but I'll keep you posted.

Please keep Chris Ruddock in your prayers. He's got to have a little more knee surgery. Rudy, Uncle John may have to put both of us on the Roleez this summer. We are thinking about you.

This is an evaluation that will rate what I'll be able to do on the job front. It starts at 7:30 am and will last 3-4 hours. I'm not sure what it will consist of but I am up for the challenge.

I promise I'll post tomorrow.

Tuesday March 24, 2009 8:45 PM

Hey Guys,

Happy Tuesday!!!! I have something I have really been wanting to post about, but I want to give a quick therapy update. Today Lee Ann and I walked unassisted around the fishbowl in the gym. This is the offices in the middle of the gym. This is by far the most I have done. Recently I have had a feeling that my progress has plateaued, but I am starting to see a big difference.

OK. On to the meat of the blog.

Well as you all know it is Spring. I've always loved Spring for all of the obvious reasons. We can get out of the house and start getting ready for the beach. However, as soon as January rolls around I have to start thinking of people we have lost in the Spring and early summer in years past. Besides my Granddad, we lost Uncle Larry Grantham and on the horizon is the anniversary of Johnny Martin's death.

Lately I have been putting all my cd's on itunes and that includes my collection of Jimmy Buffett albums. I know it will surprise most of you to know that I have a couple of his tunes. Anyway, it has really made me think of Mr. Johnny listening to a bunch of old Buffett tunes that most have never heard of. We used to fry fish at his house and most nights when the crowd had thinned out he would pull out that guitar and play "African Friend" or "Little Miss Magic". Also, knowing the Masters is coming in a few weeks keeps him on my mind. But, after going through what I have been through in the last year I find myself daily wondering what would he would do here, or how he would handle this. As I am trying to get back on the golf course I really wish I could turn around after hitting a shot and "Say what about that "Mr. John" and see him smoking a cigarette and having that Johnny Martin smile on his face. He loved a challenge and he was a mentor when I learned the game and I know he would be instrumental in getting me back out there. He was definitely an extraordinary talent and a special man. I miss you Mr. Johnny.

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't posted in over a week. Early in the week I was busy and then I went on a business trip with Uncle Daniel. I had a great time as usual with him. There is definitely never a dull moment. We laughed for 3 days and I want to thank the Southeastern Fasteners Association for a good time. Uncle Daniel wore me out because I slept for 4 hours Saturday afternoon when we got home. Rehab is going well, we keep doing things that are increasingly difficult.

I want to wish a late Happy Birthday to Jo Hudson and Happy 55th Anniversary to Durrell and Jo Hudson.

I try to keep up this week.

WOW WOW WOW.

I was excited about the show last night, but it exceeded my expectations by a mile. We got there in time to see Stephen and Marissa. Hey Slick it was great catching up and your in-laws are a trip.

The show started and 2 grand pianos came out of the floor. We were sitting high behind the stage. Our seats were actually great, we could see everything. Anyway, the pianos came out of the floor and out walks the two legends. They started with Billy Joel singing "Your Song" and 3 and 1/2 hours they ended it with "Candle in the Wind" and "Piano Man".

It was a great night with the family and the end to a wonderful Christmas season.

I want to thank Uncle Daniel for reminding me about the show because I had forgotten about it and I would have been sick if I had missed it.

FLASHBACK...from Reese

I know...this isn't my blog anymore and I shouldn't be highjacking it! But I couldn't help but share with you what was on my mind. I was talking with a co-worker today about how crazy the last year has been and I got to thinking what I was doing this time last year...and then where Neil was this time last year. I have checked the old blogs all day. As of this very moment today at 6:36 pm the last post this time last year was at 5:55 and it read...

Yea!!!!!!! Neil had responded very well to the ventilator setting all day. The nurses moved Neil and got him looking all handsome. During this workout the bed had to be stopped for a while. Following this, Neil's oxygen sat dropped to 89 but then it recovered. His oxygen sat is at 94 right now, the oxygen percentage is at 70 and the PEEP has been moved down to 35. His gases looked a lot better than yesterday. His blood pressure is still varying. They hope to fix that by giving him fluid. My goodness, what a good job Neil has done. I am so proud of him. Today we showed the nurse the article in the Troy Messenger. She said they needed a picture of Neil in his ICU cubicle because they have never really seen him. Well, within the next few hours DeAnn had several pictures on the nurses board in Neil's room. This has been a grand day. The surest way for me to describe it to you is to tell you Neil's day nurse is smiling!!!! Thank you all so very much. Please keep praying for Neil's lungs.

This makes me teary just thinking about this time and so proud to know where you are brother! I love you and I love and thank everyone for their help and prayers in getting us here! I just thought everyone would appreciate this little trip back in time....

Hey Guys,

Hope everything is going the way you want it to. Therapy is pretty tough this week. I don't know if it's because the temperature is up or what, but I'm beat when I leave.

Today I have gotten a ton of stuff done. I have cleaned the house and been working on my ipod.
Also, Kris and Stacey from SanBuck came up and we went to eat a little lunch. Thanks Mrs. Berg for making me walk a mile. We really had a good time catching up.

This weekend Mom, Dad, DeAnn, Reese and I are going to Atlanta to see Sir Elton and Billy Joel at Phillips . I'm real stoked about it because I love Elton John. Also I think I have a block of Jimmy Buffett tickets for Lakewood if anybody would like them. Lt me know.

Have a good week.

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the lack of post. I guess I took a week off. Therapy went great all last week. Yesterday we went down to Dothan Lliam's 1st birthday party at Bill and Ann's. Lliam was born last year while I was taking a nap at Baptist South. We had a great time and after it was over I went to Area 51 to see some secret agents over in the hood. Thanks guys for the cool beverages and the fellowship. I love the pad and can't wait to go back.

On the way back last night Alison, D, and I stopped at Mikata in Troy. It was good and I hope they can make a go of it in Troy.

Happy Birthday Lliam. Also today is Dean and Dusty Smith's Birthday.

Sunday March 1. 2009 1:30 PM

I just want to tell my dad how much I love him and he is certainly on my mind today. For those of you that do not know, 30 years ago today my grandfather C. F. "Neil" Grantham was shot and killed outside the Coffee County jail in downtown Elba. The waste on taxpayers' money that was charged and convicted of the murder has been in Atmore on death row eating 3 meals a day and enjoying heat and air while my family suffers. It is an absolute injustice and it blows my mind that anybody would go to bat for someone that was guilty of premeditated murder. It really makes us all question the legal system of this great country we live in. Lawmakers in DC are bailing out their buddies while the constituents that elected them suffer. I will get off my rant.

Dad, Aunt B, Mama Dot and Janette I love you all and hope there is closure for us all soon.

Good Evening,

Just a quickie.

Today my sweet aunt Jenny Stephens turned 39 years old. For over 25 years she has put up and cared for a guy that she should have been paid millions to do. However, she has done it all for free. I hope she has a great day and looks back on the past "39" years with fond memories. I can't wait until this summer so we can resume our annual pilgrimages to the beach.

Happy Birthday Aunt Ninny, you have a bunch of nieces and nephews that are thinking about you today. We love you.

One Year....................................

Those are two words that you could write a novel with. First, I would like you all to say a prayer for the Andress family. They lost a wife, mother and sister on that day.

February 26, 2008. It it truly amazing how 5 seconds can change your life . It never crossed my mind that the few words I said to my pal Jerry DuBose were almost the last I would ever say. You all know the story so I won't go there. We have come such a long way in 365 days. I know it has been written countless times on this blog about the support we've had along the way. We definitely couldn't have made it without you. It sure makes me feel blessed knowing I was on prayer list for Georgia to California.

Mom is at the conference she was leaving to go to that Tuesday. That group has helped her out so much and took a huge load off her shoulders early on. Thank you so much folks for helping her out.

Thank goodness Dad had Miss Vanessa. If he wouldn't have had her there is no way he could've stayed up there with me. She made everything seamless.

The whole family was just so fortunate with jobs that they could come and give Mom, Dad and D some relief. I can't even begin to thank Mom's brothers and sister for all the support and visits. My sweet mother-in-law went way beyond what she needed to do. You all know I have the best family ever and if I ever doubt it this wreck reaffirmed my thoughts.

I guess I wanted to tell you all one more time that we really appreciate all that has been doing for us and the continued thoughts and prayers. What would we do without friends. I don't think I could be doing any better. If I come as far in the next year as I have this year everything will be wonderful.

Sunday February 22, 2009 8:30 PM

Hey Guys,

OK to finish the story.

Thursday night we went back to Daphne for the parade. I knew the parade would be a blast, however it was so much more than I ever expected. My ride for the evening was a sweet 69' vette. I mistakenly thought I had more throws than I could possibly chunk. About halfway through the route I just had to wave and say "I'm sorry I'm out". It was a true honor, although it's one I'm not sure I deserved. Thanks again ladies. DeAnn also surprised us. She was not coming, but showed up anyway. It was a great night.

Friday morning we got up because I had an appointment with Dr. Vermillion to check on everything. Everything is progressing well and it looks like we may wait until after the summer to do the last surgery. It was nice catching up with Dr. V as I haven't seen him in months. I got used to seeing everyday there for a while. Anyway, things are good.

Next we had an appointment at AL Limb. I got a part that is below the knee that enables me to make a turn with the knee. Hopefully it will help my mobility. After that D went to work and I went home to rest.

Saturday night DeAnn, Reese, Buford, and Myself went to an establishment in Dublin, AL. The purpose was to see my good friend Joe Wright at his birthday celebration. It was good hangin' out with Ronnie Joe and hearing some southern Rock.

That should get you all current on my affairs. Hope you all have a great week.

Hey Guys,

Sorry there has been such a drought in posts. I've been on the go, but I've also been battling a cold. We had a great time last weekend in Daphne, although the parade got washed out. The ball was extremely fun just like it always is. I hope everybody has had a chance to see the interview Darwin did on channel 15. He did a wonderful job and it was great publicity for those wild AML women.

Speaking of AML. I cannot appropriately express my gratitude to this organization for not only the experience and honor of being the grand marshal in the parade, but also the love, support, and prayers they gave us during the last year. It says a lot when a group is founded mainly to have a good time and they do things to help others out, but they took it to a new level when they treated this ole boy like a king for 2 nights. THANKS again ladies and I'm already looking forward to next years ball. AML rocks.

This past week has been real busy. I went to therapy, but that was really the easiest part. Wednesday I went to Elba and went to a meeting of the minds that night. Thursday morning I got up and made a stop I've been needing make. I saw Mrs. Melanie Bledsoe at the elementary school and later found Mrs. Piland hiding in the central office. It was really the first time I've been able to see Mrs M and I had a pretty big lump in my throat the whole time I was there. You don't know how great it was to see you Mrs Melanie, thanks for your love.

Seeing Mrs Piland and the rest of the folks on the hill was alot of fun and more on a lighter note. I had a good chance to catch up with everybody including Mr. Weeks. It was wild rehashing some good times and some not so good times. Mrs. Piland sure has changed any in 15 years since we broke her in while we were in the 4th grade. She still has that smile that could mean real good or real bad things. Has bad has it is to admit, she was one of the best Elba City Schools had. I'll never be able to thank her for all she did for me.

Gotta go to bed. To be continued....

Feb 16, 2009 (From Reese)

Hello hello!

Long time no post! I'm hanging with Neil today (it's Presidents Day)! We had a blast at the Ball this past Friday...unfortunately the parade was postponed until this Thursday at 6:45pm. To "get back" at the AML ladies for pulling a fast one on me and getting Neil to be the grand marshall my good friend and fellow co-chair of the parade committee hatched a plan. We contacted the local NBC news station and they met us Friday morning to shoot a short segment. It was WONDERFUL! Here is the link http://www.nbc15online.com/mediacenter/local.aspx?videoid=262342@video.wpmi.com I'll try to post some pictures later when Neil isn't looking! We would like to extend a BIG thank you to Darwin Singleton and NBC 15 for helping us with this!!!

ENJOY!

Reese

Hey Guys,

Things on this end are going well. I need to update you on some things. On the 24th of this month D and I are going to B'ham with some great folks at Alabama Limb to the Finebaum Roast. I grew up idolizing Coach Bryant and Bama football. I can't tell you how many times I threw a pass or dove over the goal line (although I think I had better knees at the times, even though Namath still has both of his) has #12. I am very excited about this.

Thursday on my way to Elba I stopped on campus to see a bunch of folks I needed to see. I saw most, but I didn't get everybody. Hopefully it won't be the last time I will be down that way. Boy that place has changed since I was down there. In my 3 1/2 years at "Troy State" I worked and was surrounded by a truly great group of people. We genuinely are all such good friends and had great times and hilarious moments. It was great reliving some of those moments.

On Friday my plan was to get by the school in Elba to see some up my old teachers, but didn't make it. I ended up eating oysters at lunch and pretending to work at Dad's while really reading the paper and Sports Illustrated.

Saturday I woke up early to get Buffett tickets to Lakewood. After that Dad, Mom and I went to the club to see if I could hit a golf ball. I actually did. It didn't look pretty, but I accomplished what I wanted to do. Saturday afternoon I just took it easy.

Today I found out some distressing news. Elton John's last date of his Red Piano Tour in The Vegas is in April. This is the one show that I really wanted to see, but I guess it is great that this is the biggest disappointment I've got going right now. Wow I'm blessed. Well I've got to go DeAnn wants me to help fold clothes. Thanks for reading.

Hello Guys,

Sorry I haven't posted this week it has been a wild week. Everything is still going well. Dad Bimbo, Wynn and I went to "God's Country" yesterday to a Signing Day party at The House that Bryant Built. Coach Saban gave his State of the Union address to the REC members and assured us our staff would not be outworked. The largest ovation came when new assistant James Willis was introduced and said "Roll Tide".

I am going to Elba today and I am stopping in Troy to see all of my family on campus. I think I have some news to share, but have to get it confirmed before I can tell it. It is not a state of emergency. DeAnn isn't pregnant that I know of. I'm not either. It has to do with Football.

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. We've been pretty busy. Rehab is going well and I'm walking with the cane more everyday.

Alison got out of the hospital and has started rehab in Troy. She is in Montgomery with us this weekend. She is getting around so much better.

I hope whoever all the bettors in the crowd needs to win, I hope they cover.

Sunday January 25, 2009 7:00 PM

Hey Guys,

I apologize that I haven't posted about this earlier, but I have been out of town. I have another prayer request. My sister-in-law Alison fell Friday night and broke her hip. She has had surgery and is doing better. Hopefully she will get to go home in a few days. I'm sure rehab will be pretty rough, but I think in a couple of months she'll be great. Please keep her in your thoughts. It seems like the Smith's and Grantham's keep having a few difficulties. I'll keep you updated.

Hey Guys,

I hope everybody is doing well. We are just doing peachy. Before I go any further, please put Joe Fanning on your prayer list. This is Ann Young Dempsey's son-in-law. He is in the hospital in Atlanta having some stuff done. Please keep him in mind.

I took Dad to see "Bear Country" last night and he really enjoyed it. They have extended the showing so I really suggest every Bama fan try to attend.

That really all I have. We are just really blessed.

Hey Guys,

Rehab is still going well. I meant to blog about "Bear Country". It was such a great play. It wasn't as much about the coach as it was the man. I've grown up looking up to him and this just put him a little higher on that pedestal. Although it was about 20 degrees that night it was well worth it.

Mom and I are currently watch the inauguration. It is amazing, but I'm so ready for all of this to be over with.

I hope everybody is having a great week.

Sunday January 18, 2009 1:10 PM

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let you know that everything is continuing to go well. I also have something I want to tell you about.

You all know how much I cherish family and friends. Well Durrell and Jo Hudson go in the top ranks of that category. They are two really great people with 3 sweet daughters. However, I personally believe that those 3 girls could have been more particular when they chose husbands. I'm just kidding, I don't know what the Granthams would do without Rudy, V, and John K. With this great family, it doesn't matter if we are at the beach, in the hospital or need some of that fabulous Dewberry cobbler they are always there. The memories that we all have would probably be a NY Times Bestseller if somebody was brave enough to put it on paper.

It also it great to know that Aunt Jenny has 4 nephews and I am the favorite. We all know that is true so deal with it Chris. I just can't say enough about the whole clan. I love'em all and we all have such a great time together. Last summer was pretty slow for us all and I know this summer will be great especially since we have lost time to make up for. So to all the Hudson clan, THANK YOU for everything.

Wednesday January 14, 2009 8:45 PM

Hey Guys,

I hope all is well. I've got a few things to tell. Rehab feels like its on a whole different level. It's just great. Most of you know that I have hand controls on my truck so I can drive, but today I had a first. Dad and I met Mr. "Wild" Bill Scarborough and his sweet wife Mrs. Jean at the Tin Top for lunch. When we left He went to Elba and I was coming back to "The Gump". I was walking and he was scared about me getting up the steps. It took an act of Congress to get him to agree to let me so he wouldn't drive back up here. I believe he called everybody but the President about it. He finally agreed after talking to Condi Rice and she okayed it. Just kidding Dad, thanks for caring and believing in me. We are taking a trip to see "Bear Country" tomorrow night at the Shakespeare Festival. I'll give my review tomorrow night. Talk later.

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't posted this week. Things are going better than well at rehab. I went to the doc today and we all think that March is a realistic date to go back to work. Things are going to be slow, because I move like a 135 year old. Momma Dot can beat me in a foot race. I'll talk more later. I just wanted to keep you informed.

Wednesday January 7, 2009 4:45

Good Afternoon,

Please keep Mrs. June Newman and her family in your prayers. She is in Dothan after an apparent stroke. Most of you know her daughter Vanessa that Dad works for. ha ha. Mrs. V has been an absolute jewel in my time of need and I just hope I can return the favor. I Love you Mrs. V and am praying for you.

On a lighter note Reese's Mardi Gras Krewe, AML, has bestowed upon me the honor of being their Grand Marshal at this year's parade. This is one wild group of women and I know this years ball will be like every other year and I can't wait. So I'm sorry girls, you did it to yourself...

Rehab is going very very very well. We are progressing and I have a soft return to work date of March.
