Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. We've been pretty busy. Rehab is going well and I'm walking with the cane more everyday.

Alison got out of the hospital and has started rehab in Troy. She is in Montgomery with us this weekend. She is getting around so much better.

I hope whoever all the bettors in the crowd needs to win, I hope they cover.

Hey Guys,

I apologize that I haven't posted about this earlier, but I have been out of town. I have another prayer request. My sister-in-law Alison fell Friday night and broke her hip. She has had surgery and is doing better. Hopefully she will get to go home in a few days. I'm sure rehab will be pretty rough, but I think in a couple of months she'll be great. Please keep her in your thoughts. It seems like the Smith's and Grantham's keep having a few difficulties. I'll keep you updated.

Hey Guys,

I hope everybody is doing well. We are just doing peachy. Before I go any further, please put Joe Fanning on your prayer list. This is Ann Young Dempsey's son-in-law. He is in the hospital in Atlanta having some stuff done. Please keep him in mind.

I took Dad to see "Bear Country" last night and he really enjoyed it. They have extended the showing so I really suggest every Bama fan try to attend.

That really all I have. We are just really blessed.

Hey Guys,

Rehab is still going well. I meant to blog about "Bear Country". It was such a great play. It wasn't as much about the coach as it was the man. I've grown up looking up to him and this just put him a little higher on that pedestal. Although it was about 20 degrees that night it was well worth it.

Mom and I are currently watch the inauguration. It is amazing, but I'm so ready for all of this to be over with.

I hope everybody is having a great week.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let you know that everything is continuing to go well. I also have something I want to tell you about.

You all know how much I cherish family and friends. Well Durrell and Jo Hudson go in the top ranks of that category. They are two really great people with 3 sweet daughters. However, I personally believe that those 3 girls could have been more particular when they chose husbands. I'm just kidding, I don't know what the Granthams would do without Rudy, V, and John K. With this great family, it doesn't matter if we are at the beach, in the hospital or need some of that fabulous Dewberry cobbler they are always there. The memories that we all have would probably be a NY Times Bestseller if somebody was brave enough to put it on paper.

It also it great to know that Aunt Jenny has 4 nephews and I am the favorite. We all know that is true so deal with it Chris. I just can't say enough about the whole clan. I love'em all and we all have such a great time together. Last summer was pretty slow for us all and I know this summer will be great especially since we have lost time to make up for. So to all the Hudson clan, THANK YOU for everything.

Hey Guys,

I hope all is well. I've got a few things to tell. Rehab feels like its on a whole different level. It's just great. Most of you know that I have hand controls on my truck so I can drive, but today I had a first. Dad and I met Mr. "Wild" Bill Scarborough and his sweet wife Mrs. Jean at the Tin Top for lunch. When we left He went to Elba and I was coming back to "The Gump". I was walking and he was scared about me getting up the steps. It took an act of Congress to get him to agree to let me so he wouldn't drive back up here. I believe he called everybody but the President about it. He finally agreed after talking to Condi Rice and she okayed it. Just kidding Dad, thanks for caring and believing in me. We are taking a trip to see "Bear Country" tomorrow night at the Shakespeare Festival. I'll give my review tomorrow night. Talk later.

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't posted this week. Things are going better than well at rehab. I went to the doc today and we all think that March is a realistic date to go back to work. Things are going to be slow, because I move like a 135 year old. Momma Dot can beat me in a foot race. I'll talk more later. I just wanted to keep you informed.

Good Afternoon,

Please keep Mrs. June Newman and her family in your prayers. She is in Dothan after an apparent stroke. Most of you know her daughter Vanessa that Dad works for. ha ha. Mrs. V has been an absolute jewel in my time of need and I just hope I can return the favor. I Love you Mrs. V and am praying for you.

On a lighter note Reese's Mardi Gras Krewe, AML, has bestowed upon me the honor of being their Grand Marshal at this year's parade. This is one wild group of women and I know this years ball will be like every other year and I can't wait. So I'm sorry girls, you did it to yourself...

Rehab is going very very very well. We are progressing and I have a soft return to work date of March.

Monday January 5 2009 8:15 PM

Hey Everybody,

I hope today was an easy Monday. FINALLY, things can get back to normal. Rehab has been going well, hopefuuly in the next month or so we can figure out how everything is going to work out.

I'm watching the Fiesta Bowl and pulling hard for Texas, I can't stand the Big Eleven. Texas should win this game, but you certainly never know.

I've really been wanting to write about 2008.

Our year started out great, we had some friends come up and we went to dinner and then brought in 2008 at Gators. I had a new wife and thought we'd just settle right in and start our new life together. January was nice as Dad, myself and a couple of "friends" to our annual pilgrimage to Memphis. In February I went to a class for work in Birmingham. We also planned a trip to NYC in August to watch Dad and my Yankees for the last time at the Stadium.
Then DeAnn and I went shopping on the 24th at Eastchase and saw our good pal Miss Cammie Kelley. Wen planned to go to dinner Monday night as she was in town on a job interview. The next night we met at Carabbas? and caught up as it had been a while. It was truly wonderful as we saw Cam and also celebrated 6 months.

Now everything coming next is what I was told. The next morning, there was bad weather and I waited a little bit before I left for work. I got there late and worked that morning and like I usually did when everyone was busy, I stopped at Subway and went to Jerry's to eat and wait for him to get out of school. Also we were working on his trailer insurance. He was late as always. We met as he was pulling in, we talked for a few minutes and then I pulled out onto the Elba Highway. I didn't make it 100 yards before the impact. Everything next is foggy has I was in and out of it.

The next vivid thing I remember is seeing Mom and DeAnn. I couldn't see them well because I didn't have glasses on. I was also seeing double, but I could see tubes and I knew couldn't move.
It probably took a few days before I really knew what was going on. The next thing I remember was March Madness was starting so I at least had something to watch. A few days later was opening day of Baseball season. It was a washout and that made my mad because the bombers were supposed to have a day game. The next week of April was my favorite week of the year and we had it worked out where me and the big guy could watch the Azaleas bloom together. I don't remember much, but all was right with the world.

As all of this was happening I was meeting all of these wonderful people. It was all the nurses, surgeons, preachers, or just other families that had loved ones in the unit. I guess it really started to hit me that we were just destined to meet Mrs. Susan, Mrs Sue, that mean Mrs Tommie Lee, Mr. Stan and Mrs. Linda. Also, Dr. John Mark Vermillion has got to be the nicest guy in the world. I would have never known what kind of shape I was in by seeing him, Kendal and Patrick everyday. Also, I couldn't right this without mentioning the men from Frazier. Mr Tom, Mr. Paul and Ron, you all were so thoughtful with the prayers and kind words. The same can be said about Mr. Gary Burton from Pintlala. I don't think any of us would have made it through this without Brother Stanley and Mrs. Nancy. The outpouring of support and love still blows my mind and the Grantham/Stephens/Smith's are very grateful and no we can never repay these debts.

After thinking of all of this and writing it just solidifies my thoughts that I've got to be in the top five of the luckiest guys in the world. You don't get to where I am without the greatest family, friends, and support system. So to all of you that have read and checked this thing relentlessly THANK YOU. Here's to a great and safe 2009.
