April 25 8:30 pm

Hope you all have had a good Friday. Neil has had a good day. The infectious disease doctor came by and said Neil's lung x-rays were significantly better. He is very pleased that Neil does not have a temperature today. He said he feels much better and will check on the cultures next week. The wound care folks came by and changed the dressing on Neil's leg. He is looking much better and there is new skin growth and granulation. Physical therapy came by and did a range of motion routine with Neil. Starting today the tube feeding is turned off during the day so that Neil will have some appetite. This seems to be working as he was able to eat some at each meal and supplement the meals with Ensure (his particular favorite is strawberry) and Gatorade. Neil's trach collar was capped about 3 pm and he is doing great with this. He will probably take the cap off to sleep with the trach collar and will cap it again in the morning. He has had no problems with his heart rate, blood pressure or elevated breathing since the medication was changed. The Oxycontin is managing the pain in his leg. He gets this at 9 pm and 9am. He only had to have the Oxycontin IR once today and that was when they were changing the dressing on his leg. Yea!!!! Please continue to pray for Neil's lungs, leg and continued breathing on the trach collar and his breathing on his own.

Please pray for Vicki Bandstra and her family. She lost her sweet husband David today. We are all so sorry and love her so much. We will continue to keep her in our hearts and prayers.

There is some good news here at Baptist South. Shannon is off the ventilator and is completely on the Bi-Pap. Her mom says the doctor is talking about moving her to a room soon. How wonderful is this. I saw Mrs. Ceyfus and she said John was asleep the last visit but had a good day. Nelson continues to improve, thank goodness. Please pray for Shannon, John, Nelson and our other friends here. I have not heard from Sue today. Please remember her in your prayers.

Thanks so much for your love and support.

I talked with your Uncle John this evening. He was excited about talking with you today and he marveled about the improvements you are making. Hang in there, and know that we are praying for you!
