April 20 10:30 am

Neil and DeAnn had a good night. Of course, you know that means they were able to nap between nursing visits. Neil ate several bites of grits and eggs. He got sick fairly quickly after eating. As we understand this, he coughs more because of the trach collar. When he coughs, he sometimes becomes nauseated. I am continually amazed at what a finely balanced sytem the body is that each minor thing can cause other things to not work exactly right. So, Neil needs to eat to come off the TPN and the tube feeding, but because of the coughing and nausea, it is difficult to eat. Respiratory therapy folks and physical therapy folks will be by today. We are so pleased with the progress Neil has made. We are reminded often that the doctor said this would take a long time. Also, we are clear that a long time does not mean two weeks. (That is how my mind works!!!) Please continue to pray for Neil's lungs, leg and continued breathing on the trach collar.

Sue has had a good night. My goodness, she looks beautiful this morning. The doctor will cap her trach collar Monday. She is on her way!!!! I have some very good news, Shannon is the most alert this morning she has been. She was awake the entire visit. Let's keep praying her awake. I saw John's family this morning. He is still running a temperature and the doctor does not know the cause of this. His pancreas is still inflamed. Please pray for the full recovery of Sue, Shannon, Nelson, John and our other friends here.

Thanks so much for your love and support. A young friend stopped by this morning. She is doing a great job as she is well on her way to recovery. We are thrilled with her progress and admire her determination. There is no looking back for her now!!!!!!

I too checked the blog this morning to catch up on Neil's progress. In my opinion, he's off and running and it's just a matter of time before he passes another hurdle. Love you guys and will continue to pray for you.

Thinking of you all on this beautiful Sunday and looking forward to the continued good news that comes in baby steps and sometimes in giant leaps. Neil hope you're enjoying the chance to taste something new. Have you sipped a diet Coke yet??
Love to all, Becky P
