What a swing!!!!!!
We just saw Neil. His oxygen sats are at 100!!!!!! He is definitely responding to the bi-level vent setting. My goodness. Neil has a bit of pink in his cheeks that we have not seen. Yea!!!! The day nurse, said the labs look good. The xigris has been completed. I asked the nurse if he had any thoughts that it had positively influenced Neil's lungs. He said it is too early to know. (We are thinking we are beginning to see some results. However, we continue to be cautious.) His kidneys are working well. The nurse said the doctor will consider moving the ventilator setting back a bit tomorrow and will also consider the colostomy. I think the collapsed lung was a baby set back and I think we are enjoying the two steps forward. The day nurse absolutely has a different demeanor. As you can tell, we are hanging on to every word and expression. Thank you all for your continued love and support. Please continue to pray for Neil's lungs.

Great to hear the good news.We are still praying for Neil's recovery.
What a great report! We just got in from church, and we all gathered at the altar for a prayer. It was very touching. Hope today brings more progress. Love to all! Melanie
As the sun rose this morning on a new day, my first thought was to read the newest blog to find out how Neil was doing. I started with the first blog posted and read all of them and all comments. It has been enlightening and uplifting. Several who respond are folks I know but others are not. Several comments have been made about the strength of the families and Neil's fighting spirit. That is so true.
I met Wonderful Lucia in grad school at Bama and have worked with her at DHR and TSU. We are friends and she is one of the strongest and most wonderful persons I know. And, she exudes positive thinking and gracious friendliness.
Once, I stopped by Baptist South while on my way to Troy for class because I didn't "feel well." When I opened my eyes again in ICU, Lucia and a good friend, Becky, were there. Having been unconscious for awhile, I didn't know what all had gone on. But, I do know that Lucia and Becky took charge; called people important to me to let them know and stayed with me until I was able to be my cantankerous self. Evidently, the doctor had not expected me to live but Lucia got others involved with prayers and support and I'm now healthier than ever. That is just one view of Neil's mom and I'm sure others can tell similar stories about her, Kenneth, Reese and, now, DeAnn. No wonder Neil is a fighter who doesn't know the meaning of the word "can't". It's a beautiful day outside. I trust that it will be a good day for Neil and all of his family and friends.

Just want you to know that Bro. Stanley asked the entire Elba United Methodist congregation to come down to the altar today and join hands and lift up special prayers for Neil and others in our church who are ill and suffering. What a great service we had today and many prayers being offered for you all.

Neil, and all of you, are constantly in our prayers. Our Sunday School prayed specifically for Neil this morning and I know they'll continue throughout the week. We have additional friends praying, too. Neil is special to an enormous amount of people who are showering him with prayers. Let's remain patient and wait on the Lord. I'm trusting He'll continue to heal Neil.
Neil is extra-special to us. We love you all!

I find myself checking for updates several times a day. I love it when the reports are positive and when they are not so good, well, that is just a call for more prayers for healing and thanksgiving. Neil and the whole family are on every prayer list that I know of and many that I do not know of because people here in Anniston are telling their friends. There is no telling how far the word has spread.
If there were ever a mighty cloud of witness surrounding a family, you have it.
Love you,
Jim Ellis
Hugs & kisses and lots of prayers are with each of you.
Mama Dot wants to know everytime we call what is the latest w/her "Little" Neil--you are special to that lady. She wants you to hurry up and get better so she can cook you some tarts and bring them to you.
It is a gloriously beautiful day and we continue to ask God's healing hand be on you. We love!
