March 10 8:00 am
The night nurse called DeAnn 5ish am and said Neil had another pneumothorax. The lower part (we think) of his left lung collapsed. They were able to successfully insert a chest tube and get the lung inflated. I talked to the day nurse, and he said Neil was able to recover his oxygen sats. The nurse said this set Neil back a bit. He is not able to tolerate moving and stopping the bed as well as yesterday. (The nurse's voice was reassuring. He did not have that tone that we have heard before. I take this as a good sign.) We are thankful Neil had been responding so well to the ventilator setting and believe this gives him an extra "umph" to handle this bump in the road. Now, we are thinking this was a step backwards and we are looking forward to the two steps forward. We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed with your prayers, love and support. If you have a minute today please continue to pray for Neil's lungs. Also, please add a prayer for the continued recovery of Mr. Andress.

We are praying specifically for Neils's lungs and health but we are also praying that Lucia, his precious wife and family will all maintain the strength they need to assist Neil and his doctors in his recovery! Thank you God for the miracle!
