March 12 10:25 am

My goodness, Neil is still responding to the ventilator setting of 38 PEEP with 70% oxygen. His oxygen sat is at a perfect 100!!!!!! The nurse said Neil likes to do it his way and she will be more assured of this great response when he has maintained it through 1 pm. I do not think I have mentioned Neil had a scrape on his forehead. It is completely healed which certainly indicates his body is doing its job. I asked the nurse about his breath sounds. The breath sounds are good in the upper lobes of both lungs. The lower lobes of both lungs continue to sound "coarse". I love the breath sounds in the upper lobes which is indicative that both lungs continue to be inflated. They continue to monitor the medication for his blood pressure. One more positive is Neil lost a whopping 71/2 pounds from yesterday. This indicates the lasix and chest tubes are working well. DeAnn is smiling big today. Please continue to pray for Neil's lungs. We are seeing a miracle and so appreciate all of you helping make this happen for Neil. We are so blessed.

And the angels sing

"Those who wait for the Lord
shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint." Isa. 40:31

Good News, indeed.

Blessings,
Ben

Hi Neil,

I am so excited you are doing so much better. I am at the beach and last night we went to eat at the Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville in honor of you. It was so much fun. Boy you have got to get better and party at this place.

We will keep praying for you and for that sweet family of yours.

Love ya,

Wow!!!! I have tears (*smiling*) in my eyes in reading that. Neil, you are proof that God hears our prayers and answers them. We just have to learn to be patient sometimes. Deann, I'm glad that you are able to smile, even though you have been doing a wonderful job of remaining upbeat throughout this whole situation. God has special things in store for you and Neil. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
