March 10 9:19 am
The doctor came by. He said he planned to change the dressing on Neil's abdomen. After he does this he will cover the area with mesh which will dissolve later. The day nurse said this would protect the integrity of Neil's abdomen. He hopes to be able to do the colostomy while he does this. Neil's ventilator setting has been at 48 PEEPS. The doctor said 99 out of 100 folks on oxygen are at 5 PEEPS. He moved the PEEPS down from 48 to 45 PEEPS. He hopes to bring this down a bit more if Neil can tolerate this. The doctor thinks Neil will remain at this ventilator level for the rest of the week. The doctor will bring the OR staff to SICU for the surgery. This will be later this afternoon. We were able to see Neil for just a minute. He continues to have some color in his face. Thank you all for you concern. Please continue to pray for Neil's lungs.
