March 11 8:55 pm
We just visited with Neil. DeAnn is still with him. Doggone it, this is not exactly the way newly weds should have to visit with each other. I just learned from the night nurse that the acronym PEEP does not have S at the end. This social worker is learning more than you can imagine and I must say I am a willing student. The PEEP is still 42 with the oxygen level at 75. The nurse explained to me the air we breathe has about 21% oxygen level. So, we are looking for the oxygen percentage to drop as long as Neil continues to respond to the ventilator. He said as long as Neil is on this bi-level ventilator the PEEP will stay higher. I think we are looking for a number in the 30s. The blood pressure medication has helped with his blood pressure and the patch will help him tomorrow and the rest of the week. The nurse cautiously said "Neil has had a good day". This of course is music to our ears. Neil continues to be seriously ill and we are aware his condition is critical. However, he must have some good days to keep improving and he has had one. Thank goodness!!!!! Thanks to each and every one of you for your prayers, love and support. Please remember to pray for Neil's lungs.
