Happy 4th Everyone,

DeAnn and I have had a pretty lazy day today. We watched American Gangster, that is one movie I missed while I was down. If you haven't seen it I would recommend it, just not with small children. We went to eat at Jim N' Nick's. This was the first time we have gone out to eat and the transferring in and out of the car is getting easier and easier, thank goodness. Last night we went to buy me a new pair of sunglasses to replace the pair I lost in the wreck. Things are good in Montgomery and I hope everyone is having a great day.

On another note, today 26 years ago the world lost Lewey Stephens, Jr. This was another great man I never had the opportunity to meet and if half of the stories are true Iissed one hell of a man. It is only fitting that a man that served and loved his country the way he obviously did would leave this world on a day as important as the 4th. Papa, I hope to see you someday and for you to tell me your side of the stories.

Fins up,
JR

Neil and DeAnn,
It sounds to me like you're getting in the groove. Treasure the small things like shopping and eating out as well as just watching a movie in your own home. Who would have thought 2 weeks ago that you would be home and doing so well. It's been a long struggle and you two have handled it with GRACE and LOVE. I'm very very proud and can't wait to see you for myself. I also haven't met DeAnn yet. I look forward to that. I did meet her mother at the hospital but everything was so crazy the day of your surgery that it was a blur. Keep on smiling sweetie, I love you.

Sounds like you are on the right track now. You mentioned Mr. Lewey. I have to say he was one of the best, and will always be missed. Mrs. Gayle was right up there with him. Both of them were tops in my book. I will never forget when Virginia and I found a baby bird and carried it to Mrs. Gayle. She immediately got a medicine dropper and begin to feed it some water and nursed it back to health. You had some of the best grandparents ever, even if you didn't have the chance to get to know them. I'm sure they are looking down on you and smiling today. Keep up the good work!!!

Neil - you are moving along as such a fast pace, it is amazing! No snails for you. I am so happy you two have had such a terrific holiday weekend. I too regret that you never got to see your 2 grandaddies in action. When they both were together as the DA and the Sheriff it was a sight to see. You have the best of both of them in your genes. Continue to enjoy this very special holiday. I love you guys! YPSSSYGA

Neil,
I tried to call you Saturday to see how you celebrated your "Independence Day" but Blake told me you went on a road trip. I must say, you are a man of your word. You set a goal for yourself and your strength and determination got you where you wanted to be. I can't tell you how excited I am for you and how blessed I am to have you in my life. I love you and can't wait to sit on the beach with you like old times. Call me if there is anything we can do for you guys. Look forward to seeing you soon.
